Serengeti

When we think of Africa’s wildlife, our minds often drift to the endless plains, thrilling safaris, and one of the most extraordinary natural spectacles on Earth: The Great Migration. Stretching across more than 15,000 square kilometres of vast grasslands, the Serengeti is home to some of Africa’s most iconic wildlife. From powerful lions and swift cheetahs to towering elephants, graceful zebras, and the mighty wildebeest that move together in their millions. Nowhere else on the planet is wildlife so abundant, so vibrant, and so alive. Because of this remarkable ecosystem and its breathtaking biodiversity, the Serengeti has earned its place as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a sanctuary where nature’s greatest stories unfold. But the Serengeti is more than a place. It is a movement. Just like our theme, ROOTS – A Journey Back to the Motherland, the Serengeti represents the powerful migration of bodies moving together with purpose and rhythm. And just like the great herds that cross these plains, we too move as one; parading through the streets to the rhythms and beats that travelled with us from Africa. These rhythms live deep within our hearts and souls. They represent our birthplace and the very fabric of our being. Every great story begins with a journey. So why not begin Season 4 with the greatest migration on the planet?Let’s start it now. Let’s start it here. Let’s start it in the Serengeti.

Jewels of the Nile

The Nile; Africa’s most prized possession and Natural Resource. The Nile is the lifeline of the entire continent. Its banks gave rise some of the most magnificent kingdoms the world has ever known. From Empires built in gold to temples carved for eternity and dynasties ruled by kings and queens whose power shaped history and envied by other ancient civilizations. From Egypt in the North to Kush in the South, royalty was more than a title; it was spectacle, prestige, and divine presence. Today, Egypt still stands and is home to one of the Seven Wonders of the world, a testament to her glory, might and riches. In Jewels of the Nile, the road transforms into a royal procession of Masqueraders shimmering in radiant jewels and gemstones, echoing the royalty of ancient courts. Every step glow with elegance and every movement commanding attention. On Carnival Tuesday, the crown returns, not to rule a kingdom, but to reign supreme on the road.

Sahara

Nature can sometimes be brutal, untamed and chaotic, but beneath all this unpredictable and erratic behaviour lies a mystery and stories of ancient travellers and traders treading across this vast landscape.

The Sahara is a living masterpiece sculpted by wind and sun which still connects us to our roots, miles across the Atlantic. Ever so often, streams of wind bring us deposits of Sahara Dust, which reminds us that even though we may be an ocean apart, our Motherland is calling and is always willing a ready to accept us.

In the heart of the Sahara, the road becomes a mirage of sunlit sand, glitz and glamour dancing across the desert like sand dunes shifting beneath the desert sky. Masqueraders embrace the warmth, beauty, and resilience of a landscape that has endured for centuries.

Because even in the harshest places in nature, can reveal its most breathtaking beauty.

Maasai

Africa is home to many tribes, with unique stories, diverse culture and heritage. These tribes consist of warriors, healers and elders who united their individual communities and preserved traditions to pass on to future generations.

Known for their bold red Shukas, leaping dances and intricate beadwork, the Maasai carry their heritage with pride and purpose. They are a tight knit commune, with a nomad lifestyle, that still reflects the core of their existence.

Just like the Maasai, we will roam the streets of St Johns, bringing them alive with vibrant colours, artistry, and a rhythm that pulses through every movement. Colours will ignite the city while our Masqueraders exudes the courage, resilience, and cultural pride that defines the Maasai Tribe

After all, culture is not meant to be remembered quietly…It is meant to be celebrated boldly.
